Sharp V3 Screen

Topcon VT-SE
In the UK opticians most frequently use a trial frame and lenses that are inserted into the frame to check your eyes and vision. Elsewhere in the world a phoroptor or refractorhead is used. The Topcon VT-SE was recently purchased to be used in our practice. For the patient there are no more heavy trial frames that leave a mark on the nose. The phoroptor is suspended in front of the eyes allowing the quick and easy change of lenses.

A topographer makes contact lens fitting looks easy. This is an instrument that scans the outside of the cornea with Laser guided focusing. It does this by projecting a series of circular rings on to the cornea and measures to an accuracy of 0.01 mm the spacing between the lines. Complex algorythms within the software calculate the curves that form a topographical map of the eye.

Sharp System V3 Chart
I used to be tied to a light box with set letters and little scope for checking in detail the vision of my patients with eye conditions such as Cataracts. I’ve been freed from that with the Sharp system Computer based eye chart. I have letters, numbers, symbols all randomisable and displayed efficiently on a standard LCD screen. Take a look at the screen shots for just a taster of the possibilities. Screen shots

Topcon NW6 Fundus Camera
It is able to take a photograph of the back of your eye. The future is coming. Images can be enhanced and manipulated, reviewed and compared. Excellent for Glaucoma and Diabetes screening, it is hard to think we carried out examinations without one. There is an extra fee of £13.50 for this service. I’ve included a full size image of my own eye for you to see. Click here
